Photography has been part of my life since childhood.
My very first camera was a 35mm Pentax, a gift that sparked my love of capturing everyday beauty. I spent years photographing Texas state parks with my family — weekend hikes, sunsets over the Hill Country, quiet moments in nature — learning how light, color, and emotion come together to tell a story.

Over the years, friends began asking me to photograph their engagements, growing families, newborns, senior portraits, special events, and celebrations. That passion turned into BJ Thompson In Real Life Photography, where I combine natural beauty with heartfelt storytelling in every session.
